Our story.
We’ve always been artsy. Jenny grew up with Maria knitting all the things. Taylor’s grown up with Jenny - honestly creating everything. Taylor has filled our lives with beautiful pieces of artwork and endless mini-musical concerts. Creating is something that we all individually need to do.
And one day, we decided to collectively bring our passions together through Needle & Nettle. It’s been a bigger blessing than we ever imagined!
At the heart of our creations is a belief in meaning, comfort, and beauty. Every piece we create is infused with these values, whether it’s handmade fiber art, thoughtfully designed goods, or the little details that make life feel a bit cozier.
Meet Maria.
We call her Grandma/Mom and she loves all things fibers: yarn, thread, wool, and anything else she can get her hands on. Growing up she would load us up for a trip to the craft store and hours later we would be chilling on the floor, still waiting for her to find her perfect yarn. And although we didn’t love that part - we sure did love the cozy blankets, hats, baskets, sweaters, and bags that she made for us. She has magic in her hands and her attention-to-detail is a gift we’ve fully embraced.
Although she’s involved with all the things, you will find her mostly in our needlework. She is our knitter, crocheter, and embroidery machine guru. She is the needle in Needle & Nettle.
Maria also owns a bookkeeping company serving local small businesses. She thrives on coffee (and creamer, of course), a project, and time in her backyard.
Meet Jenny.
Jenny/Mom is our dreamer. She has a quiet way of imagining beauty into existence, and when inspiration strikes, something extraordinary always follows.
Jenny is Needle & Nettle’s designer. You will find her behind the scenes designing embroidery files, curating gift boxes, foraging our herbs and flowers, and whatever else she dreams up. Her passion for herbs, natural + simple living, and organic beauty shines through everything she touches. She’s also taken a love to sewing through Needle & Nettle; all of our hand sewn items are by her hands.
Outside of Needle & Nettle, Jenny is an Integrative & Functional Health Practitioner, Yoga Teacher, and Women’s Personal Trainer. She’s a self-taught organic gardener, an urban homesteader at heart, and finds joy in slow mornings with coffee, good music, her music, and family hikes. She is the nettle in Needle & Nettle. Jenny/Mom is our dreamer. She has a quiet way of imagining beauty into existence, and when inspiration strikes, something extraordinary always follows.
Meet Taylor.
Taylor/Sisi is our perfectionist. Throughout her life, if she’s into something, she works to make it her version of perfect. Whether it be sports, music, or drawing - her ability to create beauty out of thin air is unmatched. The way she can hear a piece of music and then simply just play it - something special right there.
Taylor is currently working towards becoming an esthetician (so exciting!); her time with us is limited while she chases dreams. For now, she’s our maker, tester, gift-bag perfectionist, delivery driver, and our trusted voice of honesty: “That doesn’t look good” or “That’s cute.” We wouldn’t have it any other way. Needle & Nettle is an avenue for her to explore her creative spirit, and we’re cheering her on every step of the way.
